We're celebrating the "dog days" of summer this month with a show of works by Hilda Spain-Owen titled "Doggone Fine Art". Hilda's whimsical dog and animal portraits blend the personality of the subject with the look of contemporary fine art. To say the artist is close to her subjects is all too true in this case as Spain-Owen owns the whippets (small greyhounds) that show up frequently in her paintings. She also paints commissions for many other dog owners of their loved companions. Hilda has long been involved as an activist for greyhound rescue and supported many fund-raising efforts with her art. =20 "Doggone Fine Art" runs September 22-30 with an afternoon with the artist on September 22, 1-5 pm. Hilda will be at the gallery to share her work and discuss portrait commissions with visitors.
