BEAT THE HEAT!

It is the "dog days" of summer when the heat outdoors can melt your
shoe soles to the sidewalk....what better way to beat the heat than
strolling inside a cool art gallery with equally "cool" art? Savoring
beautiful art can feed the soul and cool the "sole"!

The selection of new art at Fountainside Gallery can be a welcome
respite from all the hot outdoor activities...and while you are
strolling about........here's something to think about...

(Reprinted from a recent art publication)

Something to think about....don't think of it as buying art...think of
it as re-allocating your resources!

*If you had invested $1000 in ENRON five years ago...your investment
would be worth about $0.00 today!

*If you had invested $1000 in WORLDCOM five years ago, your investment
today would be worth about $0.19!

*If you had purchased $1000 of BUDWEISER BEER (the real beer- not the
stock), you would have drunk it all, had a good time and returned the
cans at $.05 each for a deposit refund of $107.00 (hey...recycling is
a good thing).

*If you had purchased an ORIGINAL WORK OF ART for $1000 a year ago, we
can't guarantee that it has gone up in value, but it is still worth at
least $1000 today....and so much more when you consider the joy and
beauty it has brought to your home and to your life!

Now that's an investment!

New works from Andre Kohn!
**********************************************************************
Many gallery visitors are familiar with the elegant and painterly
works of nationally known artist, Andre Kohn, but few know the
background. Originally from Russia, Andre was born in Stalingrad and
grew to become a promising young athlete, but the lure of drawing and
painting drew him into the pursuit of a formal art education. He
began studying the masters at age 15 and eventually found his way into
an apprenticeship with some of the most famous mentors of his time.=20
By the ripe age of 19, he was already an accomplished artist in his
own country.
In 1992, at age 20, he brought a dozen drawings and his passion for
art to the United States and settled in Montgomery, Alabama. In his
first exhibition there, he won four first prizes, a second and one
third, exposing him to immediate attention of gallery owners.
The Montgomery Museum and the International Museum of the horse in
Lexington, Ky were among the first to exhibit his works. He enrolled
at Auburn University where he achieved a BFA and became fascinated
with the culture of Native Americans which formed the bulk of his
early artistic expressions. Since then, he has had work chosen by
more than a hundred museums and corporate collectors and is shown in
major galleries across the United States including Fountainside
Gallery in Wilmington.

Fountainside has received several new Kohn originals in oil and a
collection of nude drawings...come in for a preview of these exquisite
new pieces!

New works from Kathleen Newman!
**********************************************************************
Chicago artist Kathleen Newman, recently returned from a painting
trip to Italy, has sent us 3 gorgeous new paintings shown here.=20
Newman's award-winning work has been shown in many juried exhibitions
and won numerous awards, including the Creativity Award and Signature
Letters at the 22nd Annual Midwest Transparent Watercolor society
Show, First Place at Artscape Hyde Park, Third Place and Peoples
Choice at Artscape. Newman studied Fine Arts and Illustration at the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art
in Chicago. As she describes her work, "As a landscape painter, I am
interested in responding to the color and patterns of light. Around
Chicago, our lakefront harbor settings, skies and reflective patterns
of water constantly inspire me. I love working ourside and work more
than one location. I am challenged by the quickly changing light and
atmospheric conditions"
That could easily be said for her paintings of North Carolina and of
Italy.

PREVIEW OF COMING ATTRACTIONS!

Our duo show for the late fall is that of impressionist painters Mary
Rountree Moore and MT McClanahan....you won't want to miss this
exciting show of fabulous marine, marsh and landscape scenes! =20

North Carolina natives, Moore and McClanahan promise a lively and
interesting exhibit. Moore grew up in Greensboro, is a graduate of
St. Mary's and UNC at Chapel Hill and later went on to study at the
National Academy of Fine Arts in NYC. A resident of North Carolina
still, her works are influenced by her myriad travels abroad and by
other contemporary artists. Thirty years in apparel and product
design contribute to her vibrant and elegant style.

MT McClanahan hails from Clinton, NC and graduated from East Carolina
University. His work is best described as searching the marine and
coastal environments in a fresh, impressionistic way. He presently
maintains a studio in Grimesland and is represented by several
galleries along the eastern seaboard, including Fountainside Gallery
in Wilmington.	His local collectors will be anxious to see the new
collection!

>From your team at Fountainside Gallery.....
Stay cool........and come in to see all that's new and wonderful at
the gallery!

fabulous marine, marsh and landscape scenes!

North Carolina nati=
ves, Moore and McClanahan promise a lively and interesting exhibit. Moore =
grew up in Greensboro, is a graduate of St. Mary's and UNC at Chapel Hill a=
nd later went on to study at the National Academy of Fine Arts in NYC. A r=
esident of North Carolina still, her works are influenced by her myriad tra=
vels abroad and by other contemporary artists. Thirty years in apparel and=
product design contribute to her vibrant and elegant style.

MT Mc=
Clanahan hails from Clinton, NC and graduated from East Carolina University=
. His work is best described as searching the marine and coastal environme=
nts in a fresh, impressionistic way. He presently maintains a studio in Gr=
imesland and is represented by several galleries along the eastern seaboard=
, including Fountainside Gallery in Wilmington. His local collectors will =
be anxious to see the new collection!

From your team at Fountainsi=
